Mara Venier in tears at the presentation of Domenica In: “It will be my last release. I will host a new program about love over 60″

Domenica In is ready to return to television. The first episode of Rai1 talk will be broadcast on Sunday 15th September and today Mara Venier, still the host, announces the news of this edition at a press conference and confirms (through tears) that this will be her last edition. “I can’t help but start the ‘Domenica In’ conference without thinking of Luca Giurato. We held the first press conference of the 1993-1994 season right here (at the Rai headquarters in Viale Mazzini, editor’s note), he wanted me close. If I’m still here, it’s because of him.” Mara Venier begins by remembering the journalist and anchor, who died on September 11 at the age of 84.

Domenica In, new edition

«The studio is beautiful. Duccio Forzano and Francesco Valitutti join the team of Domenica In The game is very strong: we tried it in the studio. It will be really good news». This was said by the moderator at the press conference along with Day Time Entertainment director Angelo Mellone. There will be several new features in this 2024 edition of the program: the studio will be brand new, as will the graphics, with room for a current affairs talk show when it opens. But he will not get involved in politics. «I can’t do politics. We will not deal with the Boccia case». But not only that, there will also be a new game with the audience at home focusing on the history of the Rai 1 program and especially on the editions hosted by Venier. In fact, one of the highlights of this edition will be a game called “500+”, which pays tribute to the more than 500 episodes hosted by Mara Venier. The basis is a digital board made up of 30 boxes, each representing a question about iconic moments from the programme.

The Dargen case and former guests

We also return to talk about the Darden D’Amico case: «There has never been a Dargen case in Sanremo. – specified the moderator – He had seventeen minutes in Sanremo. I did 30 years of Rai, 16 editions of Domenica In: everyone could say something to me. To be clear». And then he talks about the guests who have come to his studio in recent years to tell their stories. «There was never a guest I didn’t like. Jovanotti made a big impression on me when he arrived: it was supposed to be a twenty-minute interview, but it lasted an hour and a half. That was a very specific conversation: they told me not to enter his private space. He told me about it spontaneously».

Guests of the first episode

The first episode will be dedicated to Luca Giurato: “We open the new season episode of ‘Domenica In’ with a memory of Luca Giurata”. And then he adds: «Sunday will feature Renzo Arbore, Riccardo Cocciante, Teo Mammucari, Sal Da Vinci and then Valeria Bartolucci, the wife of Louise, the man in prison for the murder of Pierina Paganelli. It will be the first time in a TV studio. I would like to do interviews as a woman: I would like to bring women’s stories. I don’t just want to interview stars from the world of entertainment. I also want to interview normal women»

I never thought about Barbara D’Urso

The Sunday that Mara thought of for this women’s edition. «My idea of a Domenica In woman was to have three women side by side. I never thought about Barbara D’Urso. There will be no bindings on the squares: I see it as a container that is made in the studio». But Barbara Foria would like: «I’d love to have her in some episodes – replies TvBlog – Barbara and I are talking about it. We have to find a nice and non-trivial idea».

Goodbye Domenica In

«When I said it was the last Domenica In last year, I meant it. I don’t see myself anywhere else on the schedule but Domenica In”. He is moved when he remembers the images of the first Domenico In, which he re-watches these days. Domenica In gave me a lot right from the first episode. It gave me the love of the public who never left me and loved me as a neighbor and not as someone from TV. He gave me so much: I never felt alone. The audience for Domenica In was always there, even though I was too old for Rai. What took me? It took away from me being with the people I love and maybe because of that I lost my love at that moment. We are balanced and indecisive” And then he says: “It was an amazing gift that Ferzan gave me to come back to the shoot. I didn’t have the courage to go back to being an actress with very good actors like Jasmina Trinca, Luisa Ranieri and Stefano Accorsi. I’m always trying to escape, I’m always there in the end. He wrote me a beautiful role in which I recognized myself. It was an amazing experience and it made me want to be an actress again. He offered me another movie and I turned it down. Ferzan told me, “Don’t do Domenica In and make my next film”. I had wonderful and very loving co-workers. I hope I don’t disappoint Ferzan. This is my last Domenica In». And in a voice broken by tears he says: “I don’t see the right place for me in the television panorama. When they ask me ‘what would you like to do after ‘Domenica In’ – she explains – I don’t know what to say because I don’t see myself anywhere else.” do something else. I don’t know what will be the cinema. I’m open to new experiences – says Venier – even the little things are fine, it’s my curiosity and desire to explore many worlds”, he concludes.

New project

A new adventure for Mara Venier. From November, she will host ‘The Seasons of Love’, a speed dating show dedicated to the over 60s. «It is an original format in which the protagonists meet through avatars with the faces of 20-year-old people. chosen based on the photograph of the real protagonists as young people,” explains Angelo Mellone, director of daytime entertainment, on the occasion of the press conference for ‘Domenica In’, which starts on September 15 at 2 p.m. on Rai 1. The new show will start in November: “Initially I said no because I put a lot of effort into ‘Domenica In’ but I wanted to experiment with something different. We’ll be recording it in Milan, it’s a quirky show. Who among us has never experienced a season of love?” says Venier, who will not be the presenter, but the narrator. “She will explain the stories and introduce the protagonists. We chose her because she embodies the right of people over 60 to find and live love,” concludes Mellone.
