Women at the center. Their voice, their look, their life. The road from Miu Miu led by a fascination with women’s stories continues with a special event, part Public art program Basel Paris. Always at the heart of Miuccia Prada and the Maison, the meeting between fashion and culture returns as the protagonist Tales & Tellers, a project created by interdisciplinary artist Goshka Macuga (who will also sign the artistic intervention of the Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show on October 1) and curated by Elvira Dyangani Ose, director of MACBA, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona.
Miu Miu fashion shows have actually been around for three years, in addition to being an event for the presentation of new collections, a stage for installations and videos created by international artists as a form of dialogue, discovery and understanding of the contemporary world. through the female gaze. The next step in Miu Miu’s artistic journey, which began in 2011 with the launch of the short film series Women’s Tales as a presentation platform for talented female directors. Curiosity about women’s lives and their experiences is now on stage at the Palais d’Iéna, the headquarters of the French Economic, Social and Ecological Council, as well as at the Paris theater of the Miu Miu fashion shows, in a new initiative part of the public art program of Basel Paris, of which the brand is the official partner.
IN Tales & Tellersas the name itself suggests, the central theme of the project is the transfer and sharing of knowledge. Narration focused on the power of story and its ability to change the course of events, modify thoughts, transform opinions and introduce us to new worlds. A story that takes shape through individual stories told by multiple stories treasurer, the same directors, actresses and actors who bring the characters to life. Each joint project is represented by a hero or anti-hero taken from the works themselves, who in turn becomes the stage manager of the narrative. Accompanied by projections of the original film, professional actors reinterpret the characters and thus multiply the stories by physically bringing fragments of the story onto the stage parallel to the original. The Palais d’Iéna thus brings to the stage the real and fantastic everyday experiences of those who follow the stories and the public who will want to interact with them.
Together with an event open to the public from 16 to 20 October 2024 with a preview on 15 October Tales & Tellers it will also include screenings of short films and commissioned artistic interventions, as well as a program of interviews, for which registration will be available from October 3rd. Parallel to the artistic interventions, on this occasion the parliament becomes a space for dialogue, in which the directors of Miu Miu Women’s Tales and the artists of the videos created for the Miu Miu fashion shows are invited to talk about, In addition to their works, also the personal life stories that revolve around their work. A circular project to give space and voice to stories from their origin to their revival.
